| MANILA, Philippines - Naga City officials are considering several ways of honoring the memory of one of its most favorite sons: the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
The city council has already agreed to rename the city coliseum to the Jesse Robredo coliseum, in recognition of their former mayor who worked hard to see the completion of the structure.
Mayor John Bongat has also agreed to constructing a monument in honor of Robredo.
Other proposals include renaming the Naga City Science High School to the Jesse Robredo Science High School. An area of the city hall will also be reserved to house memorabilia connected to the life the late secretary.
Some have even proposed renaming Naga City into Jesse Robredo City, something that Vice Mayor Gabriel Bordado, a close friend of the Robredos, found amusing.
"It's very ironic that Jesse would receive this much attention, siguro he's squirming right now. Some people want to build him a statue or rename the city after him, but the truth is Naga itself is his monument," Bordado said.

| Hmm... Wag naman sana. Yes, Sec. Robredo was a treasure of Naga but I don't think it's enought to actually reneme the place. | |
